Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate for Jeep TJ and LJ are r aised one-inch, over stock, for better ground clearance. The design adds an extra 3/4-inch of differential clearance and more track bar clearance on the front face. In addition, the Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate moves the tank to the passenger side an extra 3/4-inch for more shock clearance. The rear of the Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate incorporates increased departure angles to aid in sliding over obstacles. This Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate utilizes the stock gas tank skid mounting holes and hardware to minimize installation time. The Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate replaces the stock sheet metal rock shield.
This Trail Boss Gas Tank Skid Plate will fit 1997-2002 TJs and 2005 and 2006 LJs without a body lift, with only slight modification to the tank straps. 2003-2004 TJs and 2004 LJs will require a 1-inch body lift or A Trail Boss 1/2-inch spacer/lowering kit, due to the body design changes beginning in the 2003 model year. (Note: Spacer requirements are unknown for the 2005-2006 TJ at this time.)
